Winter solstice lantern festival----SaturDAY DECEMBER 21
Come celebrate our 20th anniversary!
The winter solstice marks the gentle shift of our planet’s eternal relationship with the
sun. This dance of sun and earth has inspired celebrations of the human spirit, expressed
through art and music, throughout the ages.

night of the year with a multicultural array of lanterns, fire, singing, dancing, storytelling and
music. Please join us and add your special light to the long

FALSE CREEK COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION
Winter President's Message
False Creek Community Association, along with eleven other Community Centre Associations, is still in negotiations with Vancouver Park Board to develop an updated Joint Operating Agreement to replace our current one, which is 35 years old. Negotiations started in February 2013. It has been slow going but it is a complex agreement and we feel it is better to take the time to get it right rather than rush it through. The Association remains committed to achieving a balanced agreement that acknowledges the network of community centres in Vancouver but safeguards local decision-making. We will continue to advocate for the community and to ensure that the needs and wants of the community remain the priority at the centre.
In the meantime, it is business as usual at False Creek CC. Winter kicks off with the 20th Annual Winter Solstice Lantern Festival on Dec 21 and in January, there’s a whole roster of new and returning programs to keep you and your family healthy, happy and involved through the cold, damp days of winter.
