False Creek Community Association Spring 2016 President's Message. .
The False Creek Community Centre Association Annual General Meeting is Monday, May 9th.
The incoming board for 2016-2017 is elected at this meeting. The association by-laws require that 50% +1 of the Board live in the catchment area. To this end the Board has approved the following steps for individuals wishing to stand for nomination to the Board:
- Nomination Package: Each potential candidate must complete a nomination form (download here) or, available from Deanna Canning at the community centre office. A committee member will follow up with each declared candidate.
- Nomination Deadline: Nominations must be returned to the front desk no later than May 2nd at 5pm. Nominations from the floor will not be accepted.
- Eligibility Restriction: Individuals employed or contracted by the association with in past 12 months are not eligible for a board position to avoid potential conflict of interest.
Community service is an admirable way to make our neighbourhood safe, dynamic and healthy. I encourage all community centre patrons to learn more about the volunteer board opportunity at False Creek.
